Context
Palmeira is a small and peaceful fishing village with typical houses. It is very well connected by highway with the main Galician cities. You will get to Santiago de Compostela or Pontevedra in 40 minutes, to Vigo in 1 hour and to A Coruña in 1 hour and 15 minutes. This way you can combine taking a rest, the natural environment and the amazing local cuisine with tourism.
You can take a break for a few days, have a different weekend, rest after of the Way of Santiago, etc., in a spacious penthouse on the first beach line with spectacular setting and panoramic views of “Ría de Arousa”.

Additionally, one of the most important British architect, David Chipperfield, has a private house very close from Palmeira village. This house occupies a gap in the main street of the small Galician fishing village Corrubedo. Sitting at the northern edge of a large protected bay on Spain’s north-west Atlantic coast, the site offers dramatic views out over the harbour and to the sea beyond. The composition of the house’s design was influenced by the contrasting geometries of its immediate neighbours.

Guest Access
The design of common spaces, both spatially and functionally, facilitates both independence and also enjoyment for a family or a group of friends. Highlights such as the spaces generated in the front of the house and gorgeous terrace, full equipped kitchen with separate dining area, elegant living room and others relaxing areas. The amazing terrace is a perfect space in which to organise dinners enjoying of the spectacular panoramic view of the sea. Additionally the terrace is the ideal place to have a glass of Galician white wine “albariño” and admire the Rias Baixas sunset. Winters will be even more enjoyable by the warmth of the Sweden fireplace located in the living room.

Palmeira and its surroundings
Palmeira village is part of Ribeira Council. The Ría de Arousa is a ría, a saline estuary that forms a firth situated on Galicia, Spain. It is one of the five Rías Baixas. The Ría de Arousa estuary is the largest of the estuaries of Galicia. It is part of the Rias Baixas and is located between the estuary of Muros and Noia to the north and the Pontevedra estuary to the south. The peninsulas of Barbanza, in the province of A Coruña, and O Salnés, in the province of Pontevedra, are those who define their coasts on the north and south, respectively.
It is the largest estuary, although not reaching the higher levels bathymetric, at 69 m maximum depth at the mouth. It has numerous islands and islets among which the island of Arousa, A Toxa, Sálvora in the mouth and Cortegada at the entrance. The main rivers that flow to it are the Ulla river at its headwaters and the river Umia in the cove that forms the peninsula of O Grove with the coast of Cambados.
The most important river towns are Ribeira, Pobra do Caramiñal, Rianxo and Boiro to the north, and Vilagarcía de Arousa, Vilanova de Arousa, Cambados and O Grove to the south, and Arousa in the homonymous island.
This small region on Galicia’s western Atlantic coast is blessed with windy forested hills, expansive beaches, and a fertile habitat for growing mussels. At the very far southwestern tip of this peninsula lies the town of Ribeira, the capital and largest city of the comarca or county of Barbanza. As one of the most important fishing ports in Spain and all of Europe, this city receives the catches that folks bring in from all over the northwestern Galician coast and out into the Atlantic; it’s not uncommon to see fish in Santiago de Compostela’s market that were first delivered to the lonxa de Ribeira, the main commercial fish market in town.

Accommodation
Palmeira Duplex Penthouse was recently restored to conserve this interesting example of the contemporary style of domestic architecture. The design with contrasts between light and shadow promoted by strong straight lines, angular shapes and curved walls generates subtle and open spaces to spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. This example of contemporary architecture is complemented with original furniture design by the most important designers. Further, on the walls there is a selection of contemporary visual artists.

The purpose of the house is none other than to provide visitors a flavour of the enormous sensitivity of Galicia, its gastronomy and its people in which the raw interest of the dialogue between artistic disciplines, is transmuted into a space of ease in which the visitor is surrounded by beauty, harmony and serenity.
